This package provides a utility to upgrade the firmware on certai
serial ATA
(SATA) hard drives (HDDs) for the supported system models an
operating
systems. The firmware upgrade provides preventative firmware fixe
for known
issues, as well as a performance improvement in som
configurations.
IMPORTANT: HP recommends that all appropriate hard drives b
upgraded as a
preventative measure.
The utility included in this package upgrades the firmware on th
following
Western Digital 10,000 rpm SATA Hard Drives that shipped on H
Workstations:
WD740HLFS-60G6U0 or U1
WD800HLFS-60G6U0 or U1
WD1600HLFS-60G6U0 or U1
WD1600BLFS-60YBU0 or U1
WD3000HLFS-60G6U0 or U1
WD3000BLFS-60YBU0 or U1
NOTE: The included utility checks to ensure that an affected har
drive model
is installed before upgrading the firmware. If no appropriate har
drive model
is found, the firmware is not upgraded.
After the update, the last character of the drive model string wil
be
incremented from a "0" or "1" to a "2", and the firmware revision
will be
"04.04V05".
The included utility creates a DOS bootable diskette (floppy), CD
or USB key
that will contain all the files to update the identified har
drive.
Alternatively, you can copy the update utility files to a bootabl
medium you
already have.
NOTE: To create or modify the bootable medium, follow th
instructions in the
MAKEIT.TXT file, which is located at the top level of the installe
folder tree
