Updates for Windows 95These updates can be installed from folder
created in the download directory, or from optional installatio
diskettes. Compaq recommends installing them in the orde
given.NOTE: This SoftPaq is not meant for the two Deskpro 6000 MM
models with configuration code BMY or BMQ in the serial number.1
Deskpro Windows 95 INF Update for PCI Controllers updates th
Windows 95 INF files and registry database. When Windows 9
restarts, it redetects PCI controllers based on the update
information. This update allows Windows 95 to correctly detect an

    immediately after Windows 95 is installed and before any othe
    SoftPaqs are applied. During the redetection process, whenever th
    "Update Device Driver Wizard" and "System Settings Change" dialog
    are displayed, accept the default selections. At the end of th
    installation, when prompted to restart the computer now or later
    restart the computer immediately.2. Deskpro Windows 95 Enhancement
    installs Compaq wallpaper, Compaq logo, and Compaq suppor
    information for Windows 95. Updates some .INF files to allo
    Windows 95 to detect certain devices without a driver as Othe
    detected devices.
  1. Change to the 95CFG directory. Execute the SETUP.EXE and follo
    the on-screen Instructions to install the software.
  2. Open the Display Properties, select Background tab, then selec
    Compaq bitmap from the Wallpaper section. Click OK to install th
    Compaq wallpaper.
  3. Open the System Properties, select Device Manager tab. Click o
    the '?­' icon named 'Other Devices'. Remove any of the followin
    devices:- Bus ACPI PCD Device- PCI Universal Serial Bus
  4. Click the OK button to confirm, then close all the activ
    windows and restart the computer. Windows 95 will detect an
    install the drivers.
3. Deskpro Registry Updates for Windows 95 installs updates
including Windows 95 registry updates, which provide the followin
features depending on which computer model is detected
  • Enable DMA support for IDE hard drives
  • Enable DDC monitor support
  • Disable CD polling
  • Hide the non-functional "Suspend" menu item in the Star
    menu
  • Register any real-mode CD ROM drivers to be loaded in MS-DO
    mode (if they exist)
