DESCRIPTION
This SoftPaq creates a ROMPaq firmware diskette that can be used to locall
restore or upgrade the System ROM in the Presario and Evo models listed below wit
a 68P4C Family ROM. The ROM Family and ROM date can be determined by runnin
the Setup Utility by pressing F10 on the target computer during system powe
on of the computer, and viewing File/System Information
ENHANCEMENTS
- Updates new PXE boot agent 4.1.09
- Supports new 32-byte serial number format
- Adds support for all Intel D1 stepping processors
FIXES
- Fixes issue where L1 cache showed only 16kb instead of 20kb in F10 Setup
IMPORTANT: DO NOT TURN OFF POWER TO THE COMPUTER WHILE PERFORMING THIS PROCEDURE
HOW TO USE
1. Obtain a formatted 1.44-MB diskette
2. Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive and change to that directory. The file that is downloaded is an executable with a filenam
based on the SoftPaq Number above
3. From that drive and directory, execute the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions. You will be prompted to insert the formatted diskette in a drive to create the diskette
4. After the diskette has been created, you may delete the SoftPaq file downloaded in step 2
5. Turn off the computer
6. Place the newly created Compaq Presario 1500/Evo N1000c/Evo N1000v ROMPaq Diskette in Drive A: and turn on the computer. Follow the instructions on the screen to upgrade the System ROM.
